Shimmering Skies
A colorful festival between two story arcs, with the arrival of Wreck-It Ralph and Merlin’s vision of the Chromicons.
Shimmering Skies is the fifth chapter of Disney Lorcana. The set released on August 23, 2024 at mass retail, following an early release on August 9, 2024 in local game stores and Disney retailers, including Disneyland Paris. It contains 204 cards in the main set, plus 18 Enchanted cards.
After Ursula’s defeat, it is time to celebrate. Illumineers and glimmers gather near the Great Illuminary for a festival with games, food, music, dancing and fireworks.
But debris falls from the damaged Great Illuminary. Merlin, struck on the head, has a vision: six mystical artifacts called the Chromicons and a restored Illuminary. Basil and Merlin find the Amber Chromicon in a secret room, while a shadowy figure approaches the remains of Ursula’s crown.

New gameplay features
Rare in the game’s history, Shimmering Skies introduces no new keyword and no new card type. It is a consolidating set, placed between two story arcs.
It does add the Racer classification, carried by the Wreck-It Ralph characters.
Two production changes also appear: legendary cards get raised-texture printing, which doubles as an anti-counterfeiting measure, and Enchanted cards adopt a revised layout that shows more of the artwork.
The Disney worlds featured
Wreck-It Ralph makes its debut in the game, with Ralph, Vanellope von Schweetz, the Sugar Rush racers and Litwak’s Arcade. Brother Bear also joins.
The set further features Frozen, The Lion King, The Emperor’s New Groove, The Princess and the Frog, Moana, The Sword in the Stone and Robin Hood.
Products and the D23 Collection
Two starter decks shipped with the set: Amethyst and Ruby with Elsa and Ralph, and Emerald and Steel built around The Lion King, with Scar and Kronk.
The lineup gains a new product type, the 9-pocket portfolios, alongside booster packs, the 24-pack display and the Illumineer’s Trove with its shimmering translucent dice. There is no gift set for this release.
Two products launched in parallel: the Disney Lorcana Gateway, a standalone learn-to-play box with a board and standees, and the D23 Collection, a collector set of six expanded-art foil reprints sold at D23 Expo and at select Disney retail locations, including France.
The most sought-after cards
All of the set’s chase cards are Enchanted. Mufasa, Ruler of Pride Rock leads the market by a wide margin, ahead of Prince Naveen, Ukulele Player, Clarabelle, Light on Her Hooves and Robin Hood, Sharpshooter.
The Enchanted version of Snow White, Fair-Hearted reached very high presale prices before settling.
